As an Engineering Manager you’ll take accountability for planning and delivery across one or two semi-autonomous teams, ensuring that our product is well-engineered and that our teams are working effectively with good context and communication. You’ll be able to input, understand and challenge engineering decisions, but you’ll empower the team to make those decisions themselves. You’ll lead a group of 6-10 engineers and will support, coach and develop them through their career with regular 1:1s and continuous feedback.
We believe you’ll have high standards, and will work positively and relentlessly to improve our engineering practices, productivity and impact. You’ll know how to introduce and apply just enough process to help improve productivity, quality and predictability, without becoming burdensome. You’ll partner with senior engineers to drive technical initiatives that improve our engineering practices, architecture, infrastructure and tooling.
ClimateView is growing. You’ll be passionate about attracting and retaining talented engineers, and will play a key role in building a diverse and high-performing engineering team.
Qualifications & Skills
- Engineering management experience: You have at least 3 years of experience as an Engineering manager, ideally in a SaaS company.
- Technical expertise: While this role does not require hands-on-coding, you will have a strong technical and delivery background and have worked as a software engineer in previous roles. You’ll have a good understanding of cloud platforms, application architecture, databases and application testing.
- Communication You have strong communication skills, with the ability to share technical ideas and direction across the organization and a proven ability to influence decision making at all levels.
- Empathy: You recognise that many of the hardest challenges in software development are about people not bits. You’re a thoughtful listener, and enjoy debugging and improving teams just as much as technical systems.
- Curiosity: You have a growth mindset, and are constantly seeking to learn and improve.
- Product and customer mindset: You’re motivated to ship products that have impact, and so you are passionate about the experience of our customers.
About ClimateView
Today, over 70% of global emissions come from cities. Local governments play a vital role in the net zero transition. ClimateView has created the world’s first climate SaaS for cities: ClimateOS. It builds on a theory of change for climate action, one being used by the Swedish Government and local governments across Europe and North America to overcome the #1 barrier to climate action: linking emissions and economics.
The company was founded in Sweden in 2018, and today we are a team of over 65+ individuals across seven countries. In each person we hire, we seek a passion for tackling climate change and a determination to create impact. ClimateView is scaling quickly, with fantastic possibilities for people with the right mindset. We offer the possibility of joining a scale-up that is listed as one of the most innovative companies in the world and one of the top 100 impact makers.
